Time and Treasure

I was thinking about my grandfather’s stories today. I miss him taking me to his peanut patch in Georgia and hearing his low whistle when he worked. We would sit on the front porch glider, watch the lightning, and count the seconds until thunder as the storms rolled in.

Andy Warhol said, “All I can think about time is — time is, time was.”  Me typing that quote is already part of my past.

When I was at my grandmother’s funeral, a family friend sat beside me, and she was distraught. Unforgettable, she put her arm around me and told me she felt old. She said people feel old when everyone who loved them when they were little is gone.

Truth. The only real treasure in life is our relationships with others. All life will be a memory for everyone. Every moment you live is instantly a memory. So choose to make good ones because they will haunt you forever, and you cannot change an action or take back a word. Be present!

Pass with peace,

Mae
